How to Lose 11€ in 120 Seconds

Hello everyone and welcome back to CappuccinoCalling.

Lowkey, I am kind of embarrassed to write this but I guess, it shows how I sometimes am as a true Type B person. And maybe, just maybe, we can all take something away from this experience in some shape or form.

So, picture this: I went to bed at 10:45 pm last night with not one but TWO alarms set (one on my phone and one on my Garmin watch) for 6:45 am. Since I didn’t need to get up immediately, I stayed in bed another 45 minutes. Then I got up, did my morning routine (slowly, of course…), and changed into my FAVOURITE sports bra and ONE OF MY FAVOURITE t-shirts. By this point, I was already late. I had planned to leave at 8:30 am but at 8:37 am I was still brushing my teeth. When I finally left, it was around 8:46 am (the time I wanted to be there). Then, guess what? My building (yes, six floors with only ONE elevator?!) kept me waiting foreveeeeeer. And I still had to grab my bike from the garage. I left home at 8:49 am, biking like my life depended on it. But since it was my first time going to this studio, I didn’t know the way and probably lost another two minutes figuring it out. Out of breath, I arrived at the studio at 8:59 am — and the two nice people at reception told me they were sorry, but the doors closed at 8:58 am. Long story short: I lost €11 because I was 120 seconds late… after having the CHILLEST morning routine ever.

Since I am still upset and angry at myself while typing this: What can we learn from this?

  • I feel like it’s always the super chill, slow days when things like this happen — missing a flight, a sports class, a lecture, you name it. So please: even if you’re not in a rush, still know when you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to leave.

  • Since moving to Rotterdam two weeks ago, I am still figuring things out. I don’t have my routines yet, I am sleeping more than usual and I feel like I am in this weird in-between where the “real life” hasn’t hit me yet but the “just fun part” also isn’t yet 100% over. But I need to get my sh*t together, because today, I was just embarrassed to miss this class FOR NO REASON!!! So, consider this my wake-up call.

  • At the end of the day, stuff like this happens. It is human, and it is not the end of the world. Yes, I am upset, but I won’t let two minutes ruin my entire day. I will still ask if there is any chance of a refund (since it was my first time there) but if not, that is fine too. Since I have time this morning before my lecture at 3 pm, I will maybe just take my bike out for a ride. At least then I will get my workout in. And if this happens to you before work or school, don’t stress — one missed class won’t ruin your fitness journey. The key is to learn, move on, and do better next time.

With this ladies and gentleman, I guess I introduced my new life chapter in a different way than I anticipated but well, here we go…

I wish you all the best and hopefully, see you next time <3

Byeeeee
