Mastering Supply Chains Episode 7: My First Week as a 9-5 Student Athlete

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog - happy to have you here 🫶🏼!

Today, I will give you a quick debrief on my first week as a 9-to-5 student athlete. Since I had a cold for TWO WEEKS, I was unfortunately more of a 9-to-5 student than a student athlete but we are healthy again, so the athlete is officially baaack 🥵.

Monday to Wednesday

These days felt really good. I woke up between 6 and 7:30 am and was either in lectures or studying from 9 to 5. On Wednesday I had no lectures, so I went to the library instead. I got there around 8:15 am and stayed until 16:45ish.

Thursday

My lack of sleep from earlier in the week definitely caught up with me…and I slept until 10 am. The lack of sleep was unfortunately due to my cough that wouldn’t let me fall asleep 🥲. That meant that I only spent four hours in total at my 9 to 5 “student job” since I also did not really do much for uni in between lectures as I was catching up with my besties 👯‍♀️.

Friday

Still highly motivated, I booked a study place in the library from 8:30 until 14:00…juuust to stay in bed until noon 🛏️💤. Yeahhhhh, well…The rest of my day was really chill (which I needed a lot!) and I only went on a coffee date with a friend.

Saturday

Same procedure: Sleeping in and then getting slowly up to go to a birthday day-party 🪩🪩!! I stayed there until dinner, then went home and relaxed for the rest of the night.

Sunday

This was the comeback day. I finally fought my way out of my sleep-deprived, post-cold haze and woke up at 7:30 am, got ready and went to my spinning class 🚴🏼‍♀️! I was a bit nervous since I still had a slight cough and hadn’t worked out in over two weeks at this point but it felt great and I loved the instructor (which is really important for spinning classes!). After class, I went home and got ready for the library 📚🤓. I stayed from about 11 to 16:30, finished a group assignment and continued with my summaries.

The Verdict

Overall, I would give my first week as a 9-to-5 student athlete a 7.5/10. It was still a bit tough for me because I was recovering 🤧, but I am very much looking forward to next week because 🚨spoiler🚨 I will be doing a lot of spinning classes. This is mainly because I have a membership which runs on a 28-day cycle with a certain amount of classes and my two-week sick leave threw me a bit off schedule. Additionally, I do not think that I could get those credits refunded. I have four days left to spend six class credits, so stay tuned for that 🚴🏼‍♀️🫡.

This wraps up Week 1 as a 9-to-5 student athlete. See you in week 2 <3

Byeeee!
